Tree Felling & Removal Derbyshire
No matter the size, our team have a wealth of experience when it comes to the removal of trees. Although preferably a last option, trees may need to be felled for a variety of reasons including disease, environmental stress or an inappropriate species for the site. This work can be highly dangerous however our highly trained Arborists will be able to find the best way to complete the work whilst keeping themselves, others around them and your property safe.
Ascent Tree Solutions are trained, qualified and insured to safely remove trees by either felling them intact or by taking them down gradually by sectional dismantling.

Sectional Dismantling
Sectional dismantling is tree felling using a section by section approach. With logs lowered to the ground in a controlled manner.
When we are asked to carry out tree-works in a restricted area such as a garden, we usually carry out the work using climbing and lowering systems using ropes, pulleys and other specialist equipment. Ascent Tree Solutions are trained, qualified and insured to undertake the sectional dismantling of trees. We always work safely.
If the access to the work area is unrestricted and ground conditions allow, sometimes we can avoid the need to climb the tree by working from a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP)
Tree Felling
Felling means letting the tree fall when cut. We are experienced in felling entire trees.
In garden settings, it is rare for there to be sufficient space available to allow this – usually, the tree will be in close proximity to buildings and garden features. For such trees, we would undertake the removal of the tree through sectional dismantling.
Sometimes the poor condition of a tree means that it is too dangerous to be climbed. This may be the case with Ash trees which have developed Ash dieback disease. In such cases, where space allows, we would work at ground level and carry out a series of carefully planned saw cuts to fell the entire tree in the desired direction.
Once safely on the ground, the tree can then be reduced by cross-cutting into manageable lengths.

Tree Felling FAQ
This depends on a range of factors including the size, species and location of the tree. We find it works best if we do a site visit, discuss the proposed works and then provide a written quotation.
If you live in a Conservation Area or if the tree is the subject of a tree preservation order (TPO) then most likely ‘Yes’. We can help you by checking council records and if necessary, submit the required application.
In the case of protected trees an application needs to be made to your local Council. We are happy to advise you about this.
Usually ‘no’, however in rare cases where a tree might be posing a danger to users of a highway or public land then the Council could undertake works to make the tree safe then reclaim the costs. As the landowner is usually responsible for the management of trees on their land then it is clearly better to monitor the health of trees and take the advice of a qualified arborist.
If you intend to fell trees over and above 5m3 (175ft3) in volume (A volume of wood equating to approximately 20 telegraph poles) then a felling licence may be required. However, there are exemptions available when trees are growing in gardens and orchards and where trees are dangerous. We can provide further advice about this.

Nesting Birds
Before commencing any work on hedges (and trees) a check will be made for nesting birds. The main bird nesting season is generally regarded as being between March and August, although some birds do nest outside this period.
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 provides protection to nesting birds, their chicks and eggs.
