Ascent tree Solutions work all across Derbyshire. Last month was no exception we were working down the A6 at Buxton. where we had 2 jobs and removed several trees.
The first job was a wellingtonia which needed completely removing and a Sycamore Tree which needed pruning and we carried out a crown lift to do that.
Wellingtonia Removal, Buxton
The Wellingtonia is better known as the Giant Redwood, California redwood or Giant Sequoia. These majestic trees are not native to Britain and were brought here in the 19th Century. Whilst we never relish cutting down such rare and beautiful trees, sometimes it simply has to be done.

Sycamore Tree Crown Lift
I addition to removing the Wellingtonia, we also carried out a crown lift on a sycamore tree. Sycamores are one of our more common native trees, and the branches can become very low hanging. Crown thinning involves the selective removal of live branches from the tree’s crown with the aim of producing an evenly spaced and balanced branch structure.
By thinning out these branches, along with the removal of other carefully selected branches we can allow much more light to penetrate into the gardens and properties of our clients.
It is usually carried out on deciduous broadleaf trees. Another benefit of crown thinning is that it can also be used to reduce the risk of wind damage occurring. When a tree has dense branches and leaves, these catch the wind like a giant sail, which puts additional stresses on branches and bows, which can crack, or even fall. By preventing this sail effect you help to reduce the possibility of falling wood, which could potentially injure someone or damage property such as buildings or parked cars.
