Stump Grinding, Darley Dale: Doug Porter
Ascent Tree solutions were called to a house in Darley Dale recently. The homeowner had previously had some tree work carried out by a company that didn’t offer stump grinding as part of their tree care services.
There were three stumps that needed attention, One an old Cherry tree stump. The stump itself wasn’t massive but the roots did go pretty deep.

We wheeled in our stump grinder, which had no problems getting into the property through a standard-sized front garden gate. We also screened off the fencing behind, as there was a large gap in the hedge facing the pavement. Ascent Tree Solutions always try to create as little mess and disruption as possible.

Secondly, there was an Ash stump that had three splayed roots. Again, the stump wasn’t huge but the roots were large and unsightly. The homeowner was most keen to have those dealt with, as they wanted to plant the borders to their lawn with small shrubs and perennial flowering
plants.
As you can see the area looks much better now. We advised the homeowner to remove the mulch and dig in new topsoil before planting, o ensure his new plants get plenty of nitrogen-rich soil.
Buddleia Removal
Finally, there was the Buddleia. Although the customer said that they liked the Buddleia, they had inherited it from the previous owner and the roots and stems had become infiltrated with young Ash trees, which were becoming a pest to manage. He opted to remove the Buddleia and simply replant the whole area.
We completely removed the Buddleia and the offending ash saplings, so that the customer can now make the most of the space cleared.
